Author Lisa Donovan

Lisa Donovan is the author of Birds in My Backyard.

In between driving her kids to activities and lending a hand to various non-profit organizations, Lisa would gaze into the backyard for peaceful breaks. The more she looked, the more she appreciated the personalities of the birds in her backyard. Her book reflects her love of feathery visitors.

Lisa grew up in Greensburg, Pennsylvania and graduated from Grove City College. She received an M.A. in Professional Writing from Carnegie Mellon University. After working in communications for various companies and clients, she volunteers and looks out the window. This is Lisa’s first book, written to encourage others to join her.

Birds in My Backyard is a whimsical introduction to the chattering, swooping, squawking creatures that children see every day. The book features colorful collage and playful rhyme. Illustrator Dee Paras created charming collages of hand-painted papers to bring each bird to life on the page.

Birds in My Backyard premiered at the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania’s headquarters at Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve in Pittsburgh.
