Books Bridge Hope
Books Bridge Hope was founded in 2017 by author Lillie Leonardi. Lillie is a twice traditionally published author with Hay House and former law enforcement professional that served with the FBI (Pittsburgh, PA) as its community affairs coordinator.
Books Bridge Hope is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization with a mission to promote reading, writing, and literacy to housing insecure community members, residing in shelters and on the streets of Pittsburgh. In association with Pittsburgh Mercy Operation Safety Net, Books Bridge Hope distributes books, magazines and writing supplies via pop-up libraries at the Wellspring Drop-In Center (Pittsburgh, PA). Unsheltered community members are also offered an opportunity to place a request on a "wish list" for books. The requested book is then purchased and delivered at the next library session.
During the holiday season, compassionate care initiatives are part of pop-up library sessions. Christmas cards, baked goods and stockings stuffed with non-perishable food items and toiletries are delivered. Christmas cards and stamps are offered to send to family members.
2021 will bring an expansion of services to additional shelters located in surrounding communities, as well as youth based initiatives.
The organization is led by a stellar group of professionals that comprise the Board of Directors.
